What’s your vision?

I mean, how do you want your business to look in a year, 2 years, 5 years’ time?

Who do you want to work with? What do you want to experience, and how do you want to feel?

The thing is, that when we start out we just expect our dreams to come true, without us doing anything…but as time goes by, we quickly realise things aren’t happening the way we hoped.

So why?

Well, like anything in life, if you want it to happen, you have to get super intentional about making it happen.

And that starts with deciding what that is and then putting it out there in the world to ask for it.

This year, for the very first time, I created a real-life vision board.  Up until now, I’d only done this on Pinterest and online, but I was interested in having a go at a real-life version, as I felt it could be very powerful.

So when the chance came up for me to go to a vision board workshop (IN REAL LIFE!) recently, I decided to go all-in!

We were given a corkboard, scissors, glue and a huge pile of magazines (as well as copious hot drinks and biscuits – obviously very important!) and a few hours.

It was a really interesting process and having the materials in my hands really helped me be drawn to certain images or words in a more instinctive way than online.  You can see the end result above, and while it wasn’t what I envisaged it would look like before, I’m really happy with the result.  It was also SO FUN and having the materials in my hands really helped me engage with the images and words on a deeper level.  I wholeheartedly recommend having a go, if you’ve never done it.

So, why are vision boards so powerful?

Well, it’s pretty simple really. Seeing your biggest dreams in front of you every day not only reminds you of them (making you more likely to take action) but it also normalises them (meaning that you’re less scared to take action, as the outcome will be familiar to you). And when you take unbridled, constant action toward your dreams – amazing things can and will happen!

And the best thing is you can create a vision board about ANYTHING – your life, your wellbeing, your career, your family or your business – or a mix of everything – it’s up to you!

Here are my top tips for vision boarding

  • Reflect on what you want to achieve/how you want to feel this year beforehand.⁣ (How you feel is important, as emotions are powerful drivers in getting you to take action).
  • Get a load of magazines, some scissors and glue, and get ready to play.⁣
  • Make your mind open to opportunities just before you start.
  • Give yourself a time limit to avoid procrastination about what to include.
  • You may not feel it at first (I didn’t!) So just go with the flow, and go through magazines looking for images/text you feel drawn to.⁣
  • Then when you think you have enough images, start curating them on the board, again choosing ones you feel drawn to.⁣
  • If you feel drawn to something, but you don’t know why, then you can still include it. But look at the image carefully, as you may end up manifesting something you didn’t really want!⁣
  • Put your vision board somewhere you’ll see every day⁣.
  • Take small steps throughout the year to make those dreams happen.

Have fun! But remember, vision boards are amazing – but they won’t produce miracles.  They’re great at helping you take action, but you also need to meet them halfway and do the action taking!

You can do it! Let me know in the comments below how you get on.
